African Vision of Hope


Donate a few hours of your time to help at the African Vision of Hope office in Maryville, Illinois. A few ways to get involved are: sorting and packing supplies that will be shipped to Zambia and used in all 5 African Vision of Hope schools; running errands; preparing mailings; calling volunteers; organizing storage; and much more. You may also consider going on a mission trip to Zambia for a life-changing experience where you will help children living in one of the most vulnerable, impoverished countries in the world.

Churches on the Street


We meet every Monday night at 6:00 pm (during the winter) and 6:30 pm during the spring/summer and help those homeless with food, clothing, blankets, toiletries, etc, encouragement, the Word and other practical resources.
We are a faith-based non profit organization. A collaboration of Christian people who love God and believe according to His word that we're to help the poor, the lost and the hurting.
We help not only the homeless and the hurting who crosses our paths but our focus is also human trafficking rescue and restore education and disaster relief.
We represent many churches, denominations, races; The Kingdom.
We believe that the Word of God changes lives and through our own testimonies we're able to positively influence those we come in contact with on the streets.
We believe the great commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel and that includes our own backyard.
COTS is here to ignite people out of their church seats and into the streets helping those in need.
All are welcome!!

Cinderella Affair


The Cinderella Affair, based in Bunker Hill, Illinois, is a 501(c)3 charity to help girls that can’t afford to go to homecoming / prom. We do the girls' hair, makeup, nails, shoes, and jewelry, and we provide food for their day of pampering. We also provide formal photographs for the girls, all free of charge!

We also provide suits/ tuxes and shoes for guys!

Hair dressers, Makeup artist. Also, we look for folks who want to join us in pampering these girls, and for volunteer/ amateur photographers.

We accept donations of prom dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry, makeup, suits/ tuxes, hair accessories, etc. Receipts can be provided on request, for tax purposes.

Community Hope Center


We are a faith-based non-profit organization that helps those in need with food, clothing, household items, one-on-one ministry time, and educational classes at no charge. We are completely supported by local churches, individuals and businesses.

We need assistance in sorting, packing and distributing donations; praying & providing spiritual care for clients; and office workers and greeters.

Friends of the Library – Glen Carbon – Adults


The Friends of the Library meet the second Wednesday of each month. The Friends are a group of volunteers who share a common belief that the library is important to the intellectual and cultural growth of the community. The members of this non-profit organization work to increase public awareness of all library services and assist in bringing funds to the library for special needs.

Hospice Volunteers – Unity Hospice


Are you ready to make a difference? If so, Unity Hospice wants you! Volunteers are needed to visit terminally ill patients and/or perform office duties. We are also searching for pet-companion volunteers with at least a canine good citizen certification. There are no time requirements; we provide opportunities based on your schedule. Social or church groups, families, retirees, and students— all are welcome. Help us to bring families support and compassion when they need it most.

Junior Friends of the Library – Glen Carbon


The Jr. Friends of the Library meet the first Thursday of each month and consist of young adult volunteers (ages 12-18) who meet at the Library to perform community outreach projects. JFOL members organize fund-raising activities. The proceeds from the fund raisers are donated to the Library and other charitable organizations that the JFOLs believe are helping to make a difference in our community. They also provide a safe environment within the Library for young adults to meet and socialize. Membership forms are available in the Youth Services area.

Main Street Community Center is committed to providing a broad range of group and individual activities and services that respond to the needs and interests of the community, focusing on individuals aged 50+.

Volunteers are always needed at the Community Center to help deliver meals, to assist with maintenance and gardening, and to help at the front desk.

Maryville Food Pantry / Grandma’s Attic


The Food Pantry and Grandma's attic are staffed by volunteers from local churches. Volunteers are always needed during operating hours. You can choose your hours, days and tasks. Occasional help is needed to pick up groceries or to help disposing of items no longer needed for resale.

Volunteers are needed to occasionally to pick up bread at the Schnuck’s grocery store in Collinsville on Fridays.
Extra help is always needed to put together special baskets for food pantry clients for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

TWIGS Mobile Market


We unpack, sort and distribute food to the needy in Granite City on the first Tuesday of every month. 

Those coming to volunteer will help unload and sort the pallets of food delivered by the St. Louis Foodbank and will help distribute it beginning at noon. Help is also needed to load up vans and trucks and go distribute food at the second location. 

 

When: first Tuesday of every month, approx 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Restore Décor – Moving Furniture


Restore Decor is a nonprofit resale shop, restoring and repainting donated furniture and selling it to the public to raise money for many worthy causes in our area.

We need movers to pick up donated furniture (Monday nights), help with moving and staging furniture (Thursday nights) for sale in the shop, and move furniture out as it is purchased (Saturdays). We own a van, but having your own truck is a plus.

The Colonel Benjamin Stephenson House is an historic landmark and an important link to the history of Edwardsville. Our goal is to provide a quality, educational experience for our guests as well as a fun opportunity for our staff and volunteers. 

We need volunteers who can serve in the areas of:
Educational Guides and Historic Interpreters
Gift Shop Attendants
Construction of Period Clothing
Maintenance of historic garden & grounds
Research

Informational/training sessions are held periodically to help volunteers be confident with any activities in which they choose to serve.

Watershed Nature Center


The Watershed Nature Center is dedicated to providing environmental education, passive recreation, and enjoyment of native habitats for Edwardsville and surrounding communities.

We welcome enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to maintaining our native habitats and enhancing our community. We need helpers to staff the Welcome Center, facilitate educational programming, and assist with event planning. In addition, we need gardening volunteers every Monday morning from late spring until September, to improve the local habitats by removing invasive species and replacing native plantings.
